All roads lead to the Silkmen on derby day

Everyone loves a local derby and this Saturday’s game with Macclesfield Town is no different, with almost 1250 tickets sold for the clash with the Silkmen this is all set to be one of the biggest away followings of the season for Crewe Alexandra.

It has been all change at our local rivals since the 3 – 0 home win back in September, gone has Mark Yates, sacked after a string of poor results.

In has come Sol Campbell the former Arsenal and England star. Along with the new manager has come a change in results, Campbell has taken 15 points from his first 12 games in charge at Moss Rose, a total of 55% of the points the Silkmen have picked up this season.

When Campbell joined our local rivals they had only chalked up two wins all season, cut adrift at the bottom of League Two five points from safety fans feared relegation.

In with Sol Campbell has come former Man Utd striker and England international Andy Cole and former Man City favourite Shaun Goater, both now in part time coaching roles with Macclesfield Town.

The recent upturn in form from Artell’s men has the fans talking about a late push for the play-offs. Unbeaten in the last four games with 13 points taken from the last 18 available Crewe have risen to 11th in League Two, 9 points off 6th place.

The Silkmen are looking for their first win in three games off the back of two defeats which has seen them ship 6 goals in the process.

With the Railwaymen pushing for a play-off spot the the Silkmen fighting for their league survival Saturday’s encounter at the Moss Rose looks set to be an intriguing encounter for the bumper crowd.
